Project description
DataForm is an innovative data platform designed to empower researchers and decision-makers by simplifying the process of accessing, visualizing, and analyzing data from diverse sources. It offers a comprehensive suite of tools to filter, integrate, and visualize data, making generating actionable insights and creating exportable reports easier.
Timeline
Developed and tested within 6 weeks, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to integrate diverse data sources and visualization tools.
Background
Situation: In the age of big data, researchers and decision-makers struggle to access and analyze data from multiple sources efficiently. The lack of integration and intuitive visualization makes data-driven decision-making cumbersome.
Task: We aimed to develop a user-friendly data platform that consolidates trusted data sources like CDC, USDA, and Census into one intuitive interface, offering customizable visualizations and exportable reports.
Process

Research & Planning
Conducted user research involving 5 participants from research and data analysis backgrounds. Identified pain points related to data integration, visualization difficulties, and export challenges. Created user personas and journey maps to guide feature development.
Design & Prototyping
Developed low-fidelity prototypes to outline the platform’s structure and high-fidelity designs for enhanced usability. Implemented features such as customizable dashboards, filtering options, and data export formats (PDF, Excel, CSV). Conducted usability testing, which revealed confusion in navigation and button visibility, leading to UI refinements.
Development & Implementation
Integrated data visualization libraries for generating interactive charts, graphs, and heat maps. Enhanced the user experience by adding drag-and-drop folder management and dynamic filtering options. Iterated based on feedback to improve navigability and UI clarity.
