BiteBack is a mobile app that reduces food waste by connecting local businesses with users seeking surplus food. The app fosters community involvement, offering features like Quick Claim, Freshness Indicators, and Rewards Systems to promote sustainable practices and user engagement.

Background
Situation: Food waste is a growing global issue, with surplus food often discarded due to logistical challenges and lack of accessibility. BiteBack was designed to bridge this gap by connecting local businesses with individuals seeking affordable meals.
Task: Our goal was to create a seamless and intuitive mobile experience that enables users to claim surplus food effortlessly while providing restaurant owners an easy way to list and donate excess food.

Conducted user research with consumers and restaurant owners, identifying pain points like food safety concerns, logistical inefficiencies, and lack of awareness. Using insights from interviews, we developed user personas, journey maps, and key features.

Designed a gamified, user-centric app with features like Quick Claim, Freshness Indicators, Flexible Pickup Scheduling, and Community Impact Digest. Developed low-fi and hi-fi prototypes to ensure usability and engagement.
